Did You Know that if you had a whole group of bakers together, you would properly refer to the collective of bakers as “A tabernacle of bakers?â€
When I was a school kid, we would have to go to the library a couple of times a week and spend an hour or so just browsing through books. One of my favorite this to do during that time was to pick up an encyclopedia, and read various topics in it. I would skip over much of it, but I could always find interesting things in an encyclopedia that would interest me, and keep me reading more.
Did You Know? is a blog that is a consolidation of some of the more interesting facts that one might find browsing an encyclopedia. The author finds interesting facts and publishes them for us to read.
Did You Know? makes a very good attempt at being a great place for a curious mind to pass some time. The idea of being able to go to a blog and just sit and read some of the more fascinating things in our world is something that I could see myself doing now, and as a school kid. However, this blog does have a few drawbacks.
One of the first things I noticed is the many ads on the site. While I am definitely not opposed to making a bit of revenue to support a site, and even perhaps make a little profit, I also like to see blogs that pride themselves on having more worthy content on a page than they do ads. Did You Know? borders that idea with more than its share of ads. (Chitika, Adbrite, Google, and more.) One other notable discount about Did You Know? that I found was that it was not clear where to find the Archives. They are located in the right sidebar, but it did take me a few looks to find it.
A want to praise the author on a very nice idea for his blog, and also for some of the features they have used. The right side bar contains some very unique ideas, such as the “Did You Know Question,†which asks a random question to the viewer, and also the “Science News of Interest,†which uses a nice and unique way of bringing a science feed to a blog.
I do recommend this blog as a source of passing some time, and I myself may spend a bit more time there. The world is an amazing place, and I really enjoy reading some of its more interesting points that can be found at Did You Know?
This blog would have gotten a bit lower rating, but was saved by its content, and the authors great idea to present such interesting facts.
